Shalabaev V.A. is a teacher, poet, publicist, translator, chess player, public figure, deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR of the XII convocation.
Even during the life of Vasiliy Amelyanovich, a tournament for the Shalabayev Cup was established for his merit, at the initiative of his children, friends, relatives and with the support of the regional chess federation.
For many years, Shalabayev readings, volleyball, table tennis and chess competitions have been held in the Kostanay region. The Shalabayev Cup traditionally gathers the most devoted chess players.
This year 8 teams from Altynsarin, Karabalyk, Karasu, Uzunkol, Sarykol districts, Kostanay, Dokuchayev secondary school and Shalabayev’s family took part in the chess tournament.
The victory was won by the team of the Karabalyk district. The second and third places shared the teams of Sarykol and Karasu districts.
